About us | Autism Connections was founded by local parents and professionals in 1971 when autism was rare (1 in 5,000) and frequently misunderstood. It was the first autism nonprofit in the Greater Cincinnati area centered on addressing the unique needs and challenges of individuals and families living with autism. As the prevalence of autism grew – today it is 1 in 36 – and we continued to work at meeting individuals and families where they were in their autism journey, it became clear that we could better serve Southwest Ohio and northern Kentucky by looking to build, facilitate and support connections specifically in the transition age and adults. Over the last 53 years, we have dedicated our work to supporting families, building connections and developing community, adding programs to enhance this work. |
