About us

We are HER Cincinnati.  HER reflects who we serve and how we serve them. We serve women 18 and older with Housing, Education and Recovery Services.

(HOUSING) THE ANNA LOUISE INN: Founded in 1909, the Anna Louise Inn (ALI) provides safe and affordable housing for women who would otherwise be homeless due to lack of income, long-term health conditions, mental health issues, and/or substance use disorder (SUD). With 85 furnished efficiency apartments, ALI programming promotes community engagement and wellness to all residents. ALI offers client-centered supportive services and the tools the residents need for stability, greater self-sufficiency, and an improved quality of life.

(EDUCATION) CINCINNATI SCHOLAR HOUSE: Cincinnati Scholar House (CSH), founded in 2020 amid the pandemic, is HER Cincinnati’s transitional housing program for low-income single mothers with 44, 2-bedroom and 3-bedroom apartment units. Program participants partner with us to earn postsecondary credentials, achieve gainful employment, and secure independent housing. CSH focuses on breaking the cycle of poverty and achieving transformative change through education – two generations at a time. By providing holistic family support services in a living-learning environment, we empower single mothers to build resilience and self-sufficiency, maintain stable, affordable housing, complete a postsecondary educational or employment program, secure a full-time family-sustaining job, and create a legacy of stability that continues from one generation to the next.

(RECOVERY) OFF THE STREETS: Off the Streets, (OTS) is a holistic recovery program for women who are survivors of human trafficking. Most are recovering from co-occurring trauma and addiction. OTS follows a comprehensive case management approach using a trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, and victim-centered model. Clients reside at our 24-bed emergency shelter, where they receive access to basic needs, addiction recovery services, and linkages to either onsite or off-site transitional housing. Our treatment services include outpatient and intensive outpatient treatment groups, NA/AA meetings, different forms of therapy and socialization activities, and individualized case management.
